A lifelong animal lover, I adopted my first rescue dog from North Shore Animal League in 2016. At 18 lbs, Riley was this scared little terrier mix who suffered from severe anxiety, fear, and sound sensitivity. Seeing what a special dog she is, we embarked on a new journey together, building her confidence, positive associations with the world, and showing her how to trust. Working with Riley, I discovered a passion for dogs and canine wellness so strong that I decided to make it my life’s work. In 2017, I enrolled in CATCH Canine Training Academy’s professional certification program; I spent the next few years studying, reading, and observing the world of dogs along with working on Riley’s new life. To further my canine exposure and experience, I started Riley’s Rovers, an at-home dog business, with services ranging from daycare and boarding to walking and training. I handled multiples dogs daily, exposing me to all breeds, sizes, temperaments, and personalities. This provided a great opportunity to gain real world experience while learning the science of how dogs operate in the world. During this time, I also became an active volunteer at multiple animal shelters, including Muddy Paws Rescue. I later joined their adoption team to coordinate between adopters and fosters, helping to match the right humans with their new best friends. With the help of MPR and other such shelters, I have assisted in finding great homes for countless deserving animals; there is no greater feeling than knowing you helped a dog in need find their new forever home! While I’ve dedicated my life to canine welfare in all its forms, I always knew there was something special about training a dog, guiding them and watching them grow into their very special self. Every day with Riley is a new learning experience and knowing how far I’ve come in understanding what makes her tick makes me truly happy with my new career. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work and learn even more with the Who's Walking Who team!
